Show Ease Not Difficulty to Others

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Our Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says,

يَسِّرُوا ولا تُعَسِّرُوا، بَشِّرُوا ولا تُنَفِّرُوا

“Yassirū wa-lā tu‘assirū, Bashshirū wa-lā tunaffirū”

“Make things easy and do not make them difficult; give people good tidings and do not make them run away.”

Make it easy, he ﷺ says. ‎Don’t make it difficult. Don’t cause difficulty to people.

As much worship a person does, Allāh ﷻ accepts it. If you tell someone, “Your worship is not accepted”, that man on woman will not do it a second time saying, “It’s already not accepted, I won’t do it again.” However, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla accepts a person’s worship as long as it is for Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure. There is no obstacle for it not to be accepted.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says through the blessed tongue of our ‎Prophet ﷺ, let it be easy. Make it easy. Don’t make it difficult for people. If you say, “You must do this. You must do that. You will do this. You will do that,” it will become difficult upon a person. He will say, “I can’t do it” and will give up on everything then.

However, even if it’s a little [deed], it lights the heart of man. It makes his works go well. When one doesn’t forget Allāh ﷻ – of course, when he stands to pray, a person remembers Allāh ﷻ. The same goes for when he makes ablution.

Therefore, the easier it is, even if it is a little, you mustn’t make it difficult upon a person saying, “You must do this much. You must do that much.” Of course, as long as a person has not forgotten Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ﷻ will be pleased with the servant.

“Bashshiru”, “بَشِّرُوا”, “Give good tidings,” he ﷺ says. “You did this, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is pleased with you, our ‎Prophet ﷺ is pleased with you.” Most people already have waswasa that their worship is not accepted, “I wonder if it is accepted or not?”

He takes ablution for hours and when he stands to pray he says, “I wonder if made an intention?” When he wants to make dhikr or take a lesson, “I wonder if I made the rābita properly?” There is no difficulty in rābita. Remember your Shaykh, your Murshid; and that’s enough.

There are many people who strive, “I’ve been trying to make rābita for an hour.” They are making it difficult. He will never do it after that. When you make rābita, the Shaykh will connect you. After you remember him, by his means, you remember our ‎Prophet ﷺ, you remember Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. This is all an ease for you.

They don’t want difficulty for you. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and the murshids who go on his ﷺ way always show ease. The biggest example is our Shaykh, Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim.

He was very difficult upon himself, upon his ego. He would do everything, every Sunnah. But he would show ease for others. Because of him, thousands, tens of thousands of people started from zero and reached the most beautiful conditions.

May Allāh ﷻ raise his maqām. May Allāh ﷻ grant beauty and guidance to people, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
