Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِلْإِنسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
(Qur’ān 12:05)
“Inna sh-shayṭāna li-l-insāni ʿaduwwun mubīn”
“Verily! Shaytan is to man an open enemy.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, shayṭān is an enemy. He ﷻ says, “Do not follow shayṭān.” Shayṭān is not a friend; and he will never be a friend.
His traps are many. Every step a person takes is fraught with shayṭān’s trap. If you follow him, thinking, “Let me be friends with him for a while, so that he doesn’t deceive me,” then you’ve deceived yourself. If you follow him even a single step, he will destroy you.
He never wants goodness for you. Does an enemy ever want good for you, or for mankind? He never will. He constantly seeks to bring a person to misery and devastation. Shayṭān is the same.
That’s why, people today follow him, thinking, “Let’s follow him for a while and then we’ll return.” Only few return. Because once you follow him, you’ll have harm upon harm; he perishes you. He destroys their life and their hereafter.
But Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla said: ‘إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا’, ‘Inna kayda l-shayṭāni kana dha‘īfā’, ‘Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.’ (Qur’ān 04:76).
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “What he does is weak. If a person repents and seeks forgiveness, all of shayṭān’s efforts will be rendered futile.”
Therefore, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has shown mercy. He created shayṭān, yet He ﷻ did not close His ﷻ door of repentance. The door of repentance is open and the sins committed are forgiven, and rewards are recorded in their place.
Every day, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says to repent and seek forgiveness. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam also said, “I too repent and seek forgiveness seventy times a day.” He ﷺ still repented and sought forgiveness even though he had no sins.
So we must always repent and seek forgiveness. To thwart the traps of this way, to make those traps of shayṭān in vain, we must repent and seek forgiveness. Still, we must be careful not to fall into his traps.
May Allāh ﷻ help us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from the evil of our egos and the evil of shayṭān. May Allāh ﷻ protect us all, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allahi tawfeeq, al-Fatiha.
There are recited khatms. We have brothers who have written it down; they read it for the souls of those whose families, mothers, and relatives have passed away. We gift them first of all, for the soul of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, his Ahlu l-Bayt and ṣaḥābah.
For the souls of all the prophets, saints, asfiya, and mashayikh. May what is recited reach them. For the souls of believers and Muslims. May whatever good they aim for be fulfilled. May the du’ā’s be accepted. May their ancestors be in paradise. Li-Llah Ta’ala.
Al-Fatiha.
