Salty Water Can’t Quench Your Thirst

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has granted mankind specialties. And he has responsibilities. He must do these things. When he does them, it will benefit him. It will be a great benefit to him. If he doesn’t do them, the harm will be upon him. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla doesn’t need them. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla doesn’t need anything from anyone; neither his worship, nor his Ṣadaqah, nor his Zakāt, nor anything. We are the ones in need. We are the needy. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is the One Who provides for our needs.

He ﷻ also shows you the goodness. “Do this, it is good for you. This is what you need. This is what is beneficial.” As your spirituality increases, you will be at ease on the inside, and your ākhirah will be good and prosperous. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has not made it difficult. He has ordered many things that mankind can do. Those who obey those orders win. Those who don’t obey them lose; they actually lose completely. Some lose forever. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. And some, after suffering, find themselves at ease. But there’s no need for those things. While in dunyā, you have to win. Losing is for the fools.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given the loser everything. He ﷻ has opened His ﷻ treasures. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Come and take.” “No, I don’t want. I don’t want this treasure. What I need is dung and the filth that comes out of the sewage. That’s what I need,” says the human being. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying, “Leave this and come to the clean beautiful things, come to jewelry, come to treasures.”

Mankind says, “No, no, I don’t want this. Look at all my friends, most people love dung. We love dung and the filth that comes out of the sewage. We are happy with that.” You say you are happy but a person cannot be happy with that. A person is happy when his spirituality is happy. Otherwise, nothing can make him happy or satisfy him. No matter how much salty water he drinks, salt cannot quench his thirst. It is sweet things that will quench his thirst, it is the good, beautiful and clean things.

Therefore, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has ordered it to us. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Leave the bad, and come to the good.” He ﷻ says, “Come to paradise, and leave hell.” What is more beautiful than this? If mankind runs after his ego and shayṭān, he will find none other than them. So you must train your ego and stay away from shayṭān. May Allāh ﷻ help us all, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.

There are recited Qur’an Khatms that they have entrusted us with. May Allāh ﷻ accept them. We gift them firstly to our Holy Prophet ﷺ, his ﷺ Ahlu l-Bayt and ṣaḥābah, souls of all Anbiya, Awliya, Asfiya and our Mashayikh. To the souls of all our late ones. To the souls of all Muslims and Muslimahs, Mu’mins and Mu’minahs. For goodness to come and evil to be gone. May whatever good goals those who recited have be reached. For the strength of all of our īmān, in shā’a Llāh. For happiness here and hereafter. Li-Llahi Ta’āla.

Al-Fatiha.
