Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ (37) وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا (38) فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ”
(Qur’ān 79:37-39)
“Fa’ammā Man Ţaghá (37) Wa ‘Āthara Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā (38) Fa’inna Al-Jaĥīma Hiya Al-Ma’wá (39)”
“So as for he who transgressed (37) And preferred the life of the world (38) Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire (39).” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says. The person who prefers dunyā, the person who works for dunyā, the person who is in disobedience and rebellion, his end is bad, his end is hell. But the person who is for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, even if all dunyā was his, his end is paradise. When one has the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, everything becomes good. A person who does not seek the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ will have everything become bad.
A person who prefers not the whole dunyā but as much as an atom of dunyā loses his ākhirah. Ākhirah is the eternal. The eternal life, the real life is the life of ākhirah. Dunyā is gone in the blink of an eye. Therefore, the clever person prefers ākhirah. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, when you obey Me and perform your worship, everything is ḥalāl for you, within the bounds of the ḥalāl. When it is outside the bounds of the ḥalāl, when it enters the ḥarām, then he will be working for dunyā. He will have a burden upon him. He will have punishment.
Therefore, while living, walking, sleeping, waking up and doing everything, we should remember Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. We should act as He ﷻ wants. When the intention is like that, the end will be good then. But if a person does everything for dunyā, then he does not care to distinguish between ḥalāl and ḥarām. A person who strives saying, “I will take everything. I want everything to be mine,” it will be of no use then. They are not good for him. They will be affliction for him. His earnings and deeds will not be of any benefit to him.
Because everything is current. Human being’s life in dunyā is current. It means in the existing moment. The past is over, and the future is uncertain. Therefore, always work for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, and remember Him ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ make us steadfast. May we be as He ﷻ wants, in shā’a Llāh. May our aim not be dunyā but our Lord, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
