Not Each with Turban Is Awliyā’

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Our Holy Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says,

مَن غَشَّنَا فَلَيسَ مِنَّا

Those who cheat us, those who deceive us, are not from us.

Of course, in this time we live in, everyone deceives others in every way. Everyone, young and old, deceives everyone. They cheat people, they deceive. They don’t do what they say. They cheat people and think they’ve gained something.

This is a material worldly deception. That’s not important. This man stole your money, your car, your wealth. Those are worldly possessions. They are not important. What matters is the hereafter. It’s the person who deceives you in matters of the hereafter. That’s the worst danger.

Someone who deceives people, who appears before people as very respected and blessed, and deceives them in terms of ṭarīqah is not from us, says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. That’s the main deceit.

The way of our Prophet ﷺ is clear. He ﷺ shows what is good, and what is bad. You must be on the inside as you are on the outside; not otherwise.

If you look like the people of ṭarīqah, wearing the jubbah, turban masha’Allah as big as a tray, and the beard is two spans, then, you say, “I follow the Shaykh,” and then not obey the Shaykh’s commands and words at all, and not even doing what he says. This is deception. They deceive people.

Therefore, the one who deceives, first and foremost, deceives himself. He cheats himself. Those people we spoke of are not from us says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. They are hypocrites. They have no īmān at all.

If he had īmān, he would not deceive people. He deceives people in terms of religion in order to gains benefit. He deceives people and takes advantage of them. Those who deceive and cheat people are not from us, says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.

The way of Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim is clear. Many people have emerged after Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim. Therefore, we want to warn our brothers and sisters of this, not just once or twice, but every once in a while.

Don’t think every one wearing a turban is an ‘awliyā’. They say you should think of everyone you see as Khidr, but don’t think every one wearing a turban as an ‘awliyā’. Because he deceives people with his turban. People will be deceived with his beard thinking he’s a holy man.

After that, they become alienated from Islām. Muslims are like that, “Look, this man is wearing a turban and jubbah, and so on.” Then they say, “He deceived us.” This is the worst thing. He deceived people in terms of religion.

And as we said, among the murids, among those who love, someone who has nothing, who says, “I’m this, I’m that,” – they have no value at all just when they say “I” anyways. We must be careful about that. If course, murids, people are naive; they can be deceived by anyone.

Therefore, they should be careful not to follow this type of people. They are everywhere, all over the world. They appear everywhere, “We are the caliph of Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim, and Mawlana Sheikh ‘Abdu Llāh ad-Dāghestānī.”

There’s also this: some people say, “Put aside Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim, we are the followers of Sheikh ‘Abdu Llāh ad-Dāghestānī.” Who are you to understand who Mawlana Shaykh ‘Abdu Llāh ad-Dāghestānī is? Nothing. And they are deceived even more by this. Because there are many of such people.

May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from their evil. They have no hope for guidance, because shayṭān has mounted upon them that guidance does not even approach them. Therefore, staying away from them is goodness for a person. It is a salvation for a person.

If they approach, they will mix up their minds. They will make waswasa. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. Some naive people think they are something. They follow them, and waste their lives following them in vain.

May Allāh ﷻ protect us from their evil. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from the evil of shayṭān and from their evil.
