Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
“There are no days in this world more beloved to Allah ﷻ, and more beloved to me ﷺ, than the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.”
This Prophetic ḥadīth has been narrated with various wordings by seven Companions: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, Ibn ʿAbbās, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, Abū Hurayrah, Ibn Masʿūd, Jābir, and ʿUmar, as found in the early sources.
Some narrations include:
- “So increase your recitation of takbīr (Allāhu akbar), tahlīl (Lā ilāha illa Allāh), and taḥmīd (Al-ḥamdu lillāh) during them.”
- “The fast of a single day among them is equal to fasting an entire year, and one night among them is equal in reward to Laylat al-Qadr.”
Anas ibn Mālik said:
“It used to be said regarding the Ten Days: ‘Each day is worth 1,000 [in merit], and the Day of ʿArafah [9 Dhu al-Ḥijjah] is worth 10,000.’”
Narrated by al-Bayhaqī in Faḍāʾil al-Awqāt.
