By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.

If we are separate, we are like beads of a tasbih. If there is no string, they go here, there, finished. Lost. But when they are on a string, they stay together. They cannot be lost.

It is the same for people. If a person is alone, he is in danger of being lost. When he is held by a true guide, he is protected.

Look, everyone! (Mawlanaق lifts his tasbih.)

You see this tasbih? If the string breaks, all the beads run away. You cannot find them again. Sometimes the string is strong. Sometimes it is weak and quickly breaks. So be careful. The string must be strong. A silver one is stronger, yes?

When you are with a true guide, you are safe. The guide keeps you. If not, you are like a bead that rolls under the chair, quickly lost.

We must be humble, and as much as we are able, to be in agreement with a shaykh. The guide is the most important person throughout our lives, because everyone takes a guide, either on a good way or on a bad way.

If not with a good guide, then quickly a bad guide will come. So many devils are waiting, dressed like men, calling people, taking them on wrong roads.

Therefore, everyone is in need of a guide, but you must be careful to take a guide throughout your life for goodness, not for badness.

Everyone knows that, for all people, this life is going to be either with good things or with bad things. But so many times we are so weak in the hands of our egos, running after our nafs.

When you run and make your ego or someone who is from shaytan as your guide, you quickly fall into dangerous, terrible places, hells!

Each person must choose the way that will benefit him, the way that will save him.

A true guide keeps his followers wherever they are. They may be in the East, they may be in the West, it does not matter. His spiritual power reaches.

When Sayyidina Yusuf (AS) was in Egypt and faced the trial with the wife of the ruler, at the moment when he was tempted, his father Sayyidina Ya‘qub (AS) appeared to him spiritually and reminded him, “O Yusuf, keep yourself!”

How? From Palestine to Egypt. But that power reached him.

The Awliyas inherit this from the Prophets. Prophets have perfect power, and Awliyas receive and carry from that reflection.

A true shaykh may keep his mureeds (followers), wherever they are, even if they are worlds apart. His spiritual power is always with them. Even when separated, they are never alone.

You may be far away on the other side of the world, but your shaykh’s heart can reach you. There is no distance in spiritual connection.

The moment you remember your shaykh with love, he is present with you. The support comes. The power reaches you. That is a miraculous power given to every true guide. That is enough.

It is not through phone, letters, or being with him in person. It is a connection from heart to heart.

How to keep that connection? Very easy. When you remember your shaykh, quickly you are connected. When you forget, you are far. When you remember again, you are near. No distance, no time, no barrier. Only heedlessness closes the door.

So you must practise. Train your heart to remember. Think of how a young man in love is always occupied with his beloved, or a young woman with hers. Their hearts are constantly with each other.

When you carry that same love for your shaykh, you are never cut off. Never! Always you feel him with you.

Some people are with their Lord ﷻ directly. The Anbiyas and Awliyas, their hearts are filled only with Allah ﷻ. Some are always with the Prophet ﷺ. Some are with their shaykhs. Some remember only when they need something.

According to your love, your connection becomes strong. According to your need, the door opens. You must understand this point! Then it is going to be more easy for our brothers and sisters to be in contact with their shaykhs.

And if you are ever in need, recite Al-Fatiha and gift it to the Prophet ﷺ, to your Grandshaykh, to your guide, and it is all right. The door opens again. Connection is there.

Why then do we not always remember? Because of ghafil (heedlessness).

The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ once said, “O RasulAllah, when we are here with you, we are like on the Day of Resurrection, we are living as a person lives on that Day.

But when we go from here, we are not as we were when we were with you.”

The Prophet ﷺ replied, “If the same condition continues with you when you are outside, away from me, the angels will come to shake hands with you.

But heedlessness comes over you so that you may do something for your earthly life, also.”

Only certain people, only a select few, have been chosen to be for their Lord ﷻ always.

Eventhough they may be in markets, buying, selling, going, coming, building, planting, working with their physical bodies, their hearts never leave their Lord ﷻ. They are always with their Lord ﷻ.

But for us, it needs practice. You must train your heart to always be with its Lord ﷻ, never leaving Him ﷻ, never turning away, even for a moment.

And every time you remember your shaykh, he remembers you. When you turn your heart, the light reaches. When you are heedless, it stops. It is not from distance. It is from forgetfulness.

So make your remembrance strong. Practice until it becomes natural. Until even in sleep your heart remembers.

Then you will see how easy connection is. Not far. Not difficult. Just remember, and it is there.

May Allah ﷻ grant us to be with true guides, to hold fast to that string of guidance, never letting it break.

May we stay connected always, though distant in body yet near in spirit, journeying together towards His ﷻ Divine Presence.

May we remain bound in safety and love, walking the path that leads to Him ﷻ.

Al-Fatiha.
