Know Your Weakness

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“وَخُلِقَ الْإِنسَانُ ضَعِيفًا”

(Qur’ān 04:28)

“Wa Khuliqa Al-‘Insānu Đa`īfāan”, “And mankind was created weak.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying mankind is created weak. If you look, mankind is the weakest among all creatures in terms of physical strength. They are even physically weaker than insects and bugs. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla created them specifically like this. Yet, despite being created as the weakest, they challenge everyone and try to suppress them. If mankind know their limits, they will be clever. They will get strength with mind. They get strength with the help of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They are weak on their own. Even if they own the whole world, they can’t do anything when their breath is over.

Therefore, mankind must know his weakness. “I am ‘Alim. I am Shaykh. I am Sultan. I am a minister. I am a president” – they have nothing to do with strength. Strength comes from being with Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. We must know our weakness and ask for help from Allah ﷻ to defeat our egos, as that is our biggest enemy. People’s egos do the worst to them. Unless they defeat their egos, they will be oppressed by them.

The days and times we are living in show that those who have oppressed mankind for 60-70 years, for 100-1,000 years are gone. Where are they now? Thousands of years have passed. They didn’t attain anything. Those who were with Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla are in profit. Their names are exalted, and their ranks are raised in the presence of Allah ﷻ.

People nowadays have forgotten. They think they are strong. They have bombs, weapons, money; they think the strength is in them. There is no power there. They work now with the permission of Allah ﷻ. When the time comes, none of them will work anymore. These things happen with permission. Without the permission of Allah ﷻ, nothing works. Therefore, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying that people are created weak. If they think the strength is somewhere else, that strength will be gone at once, and they will be left there alone. They won’t be able to attain anything else. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May we be with Allah ﷻ. May we know our weakness. We are weak servants. May Allah ﷻ help us all insha’Allah. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
