Increase Your Good Deeds

A‘ūdhu Billāhi Mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِن سُوءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا

(Qur’ān 94:05-06). ‘Yawma Tajidu Kullu Nafsin Mā `Amilat Min Khayrin Muĥđarāan Wa Mā `Amilat Min Sū’in Tawaddu Law ‘Anna Baynahā Wa Baynahu – ‘Amadāan Ba’īdāan’, ‘The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.

Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying that the goodness done by a person will be present in Akhirah when he passes away from this world. All of it will be present in Akhirah. Allah ﷻ protects it and keeps it for him.

When they wake up on Judgment Day, they will see it and they will feel relief. Mankind will say, “It’s so good that I did that. I even did little. If only I did more”. But Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says that the charity and worship, every beauty and every good deed is goodness. People will find them present on Judgment Day. And they will go to the eternal life with them.

Those who do badness will find badness in front of them. They will say, “If only it was far away from me. If only what I did was away from me. It has stuck onto me”. They will wish to get rid of it and say “If only”. “تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا ۗ وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللَّهُ نَفْسَهُ”, “Tawaddu Law ‘Anna Baynahā Wa Baynahu – ‘Amadāan Ba’īdāan, Wa Yuĥadhdhirukumu Allāhu Nafsah”, “It will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself.” (Qur’an 03:30).

Allah ﷻ is warning you. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is warning people to increase their good deeds before they go. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla keeps them. His ﷻ safe boxes given to you are secure. They are not like the safe boxes of this world. Neither thieves nor burglars can open them. As long as you do goodness, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla protects it.

Therefore, increase your good deeds so that you find them there. They won’t be wasted. You may forget them, but Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla does not forget them and keeps them for you. May Allah ﷻ increase our good deeds insha’Allah. May we rejoice with the Mu‘min people, with beauty and goodness there insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ protect us.
