If You Love Allāh ﷻ, Follow the Prophet ﷺ

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ”

(Qur’ān 03:31)

“Qul in kuntum tuhibbuna Llāha fāttabi‘ūnī yuhbibkumu Llāh wa-yaghfir lakum dhunūbakum, wa Allāhu Ghafūrun Rahīm.”

“Say, [O Muhammad], ‘If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.'” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

The rank of our Holy ‎Prophet ﷺ is the highest rank in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. Therefore, it is said in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, if you love Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, follow our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Go on his ﷺ way. If you follow his ﷺ way, Allāh ﷻ will love you.

The most important goal in our lives must be that Allāh ﷻ loves us. If Allāh ﷻ loves us, everything is easy, everything is good. There is nothing more beautiful than Allāh ﷻ loving you. Therefore, following the way of our Prophet ﷺ, loving our Prophet ﷺ, glorifying him ﷺ and honoring him ﷺ is beneficial for people.

The most loved person is Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Non-Muslims say they love this and that. But there is no love like in Islām. They have a love that appeals to their egos. The love in Islām is a love that ends the ego. The love in Islām is not from the ego.

Therefore, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “If you make salāt and salām upon me, I receive your salām and I return the salām.” says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. So this is a great grace. You make salāt and salām, and our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam answers you. He ﷺ gives salām to you. There is nothing more beautiful than this.

Therefore, the most beloved person in dunyā is our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. There is no one to love except our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Because those who follow his ﷺ way are loved, and those who are not in his ﷺ way are not loved. This is something that Allāh ﷻ has given to people, to their souls. It is a spiritual and ethereal love. This is the true love. Other loves are love of benefit. They are useless. They have no value. What is valuable is the everlasting love, the love of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam with the permission of Allāh ﷻ.

In these blessed months, we do more of everything for the sake of our Prophet ﷺ, for his ﷺ pleasure and the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ accept from us all. May He ﷻ increase our love, not for our egos but for our Prophet ﷺ. The love of our Prophet ﷺ is obligatory for us. It is wājib. It is goodness. We must know it.

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “You do not have true īmān unless you love me more than your own self, your mother, your father and dunyā.” You can be a Muslim – Now there are people who are deceived by shayṭān and say they are Muslims, but do not show much respect to our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. They think showing too much respect is a bad thing. They call showing too much respect shirk. I don’t know what they also say. They scare people and prevent them from receiving that virtue. They prevent them from earning thawāb, from drawing near to Allāh ﷻ, from becoming one of Allāh’s ﷻ beloved servants. They prevent people with this trick.

May Allāh ﷻ protect us. Muslims must not follow them. What’s right is the more you honor our Holy Prophet ﷺ, the more you rise in rank, the more reward you earn. May Allāh ﷻ increase our love for him ﷺ, as we said. May we honor him ﷺ more, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
