From Ḥayy to Hu

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ ضِيَاءً وَالْقَمَرَ نُورًا وَقَدَّرَهُ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ”

(Qur’ān 10:05)

“Huwa Al-Ladhī Ja`ala Ash-Shamsa Điyā’an Wa Al-Qamara Nūrāan Wa Qaddarahu Manāzila Lita`lamū `Adada As-Sinīna Wa Al-Ĥisāba”, “It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light and determined for it phases – that you may know the number of years and account [of time].” Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is addressing mankind, Jinns and everyone who has mind. They say people live like grass. Many people live like grass. They have nothing to do with thinking where they came from and where they are going. They don’t care.

Some people ask “Where did we come from? Where are we going?” We came from the presence of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and we are going to Him ﷻ. From Him ﷻ to Him ﷻ. We go from Ḥayy to Hu. Sometimes people understand it wrongly. They say who comes from “ḥay” goes to “ḥuy”. They think it means coming from emptiness and going to emptiness. It is not so. Ḥayy is Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. And Hu is Him ﷻ. We go from Him ﷻ to Him ﷻ. There is nowhere else to go.

The whole universe came from Him ﷻ and goes to Him ﷻ. It is said in Qur’an ‘Azimu sh-Shan, “They run around. Moon, sun and stars; all of them go towards one place.” Allah ﷻ has given some knowledge to people. This world has a speed of 1,000km. Together with the sun, it speeds up to several hundred thousand km. Together with the galaxy, it goes with the speed of several million km. Where does it go? Where did it come from and where does it go? People ask these questions. It came from the power of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and it goes back to His ﷻ power. It goes ahead without stopping.

There are some nice old sayings. One of them says “We got on a sign and are going to doomsday.” To doomsday, we are going to the presence of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla insha’Allah. People must be prepared accordingly. Also, they must know it is not empty. There is nothing as ḥay- ḥuy. It is Ḥayy and Hu. We come from Him ﷻ and we return to Him ﷻ. Therefore, people should not waste their lives for nothing. They should not destroy themselves. They should not harm people. They should not harm themselves. Mankind should not harm their families. There are things that will be asked and you will have to answer.

Iman is important. Iman is the most important thing. If Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla gave it to us, we must make Shukr to Allah ﷻ a million times for that. People are not animals. Even animals are sometimes on a much higher level than people. They know Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and make their Tasbih. Everything makes Tasbih for Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and bows to His ﷻ Greatness. Therefore, this world is going to Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Everything has its end. And the end is the presence of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. May Allah ﷻ give Iman to all of us. May He ﷻgive mind insha’Allah. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
