Du‘a of the Muslim

Bismi Llahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim

May it be mubārak (blessed), the night of the 15th of Sha‘bān. Thank Allah ﷻ we were able to reach it, and inshā’Allah may we reach even better ones and better days. Everything Allah ﷻ has deemed as holy, beautiful and good is beautiful and with barakah (blessings) and raḥmah (mercy).

Allah ﷻ says that your du‘ās are answered. Sometimes people speak without knowing and say: ‘My du‘ā is not being answered. Why is that so?’ If you are Muslim, then your du‘ā will definitely be answered, because Allah ﷻ says:

ٱدْعُونِىٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’

(Qur’ān 40:60)

Make du‘ā to Me and I will answer your du‘ā, Allah ﷻ says. Humans are in a hurry. People who say: ‘My du‘ās are not answered,’ when they find out in the hereafter how their du‘ās are accepted, they say: ‘I wish that none of my du‘ās were answered in the world and that they were all left for the hereafter,’ that much gifts and rewards will be given by Allah ﷻ.

So Allah ﷻ always wants goodness and beautiful things for humans, yet humans want to hurry and say: ‘A little is enough for me. I want all my du‘ās to be answered in this world,’ and then in the hereafter they will regret saying so.

Therefore, a Mu’min’s and a Muslim’s du‘ā is definitely answered by Allah ﷻ. Allah ﷻ certainly gives its answer either in this world or in the hereafter. As long as one is Muslim, there’s no fear for them.

To whom there is fear? To the Kāfirs (infidels) and people with no faith. Those who don’t believe in Allah ﷻ and the prophets, there’s fear for them. For them it is said, Bismillāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm:

وَمَا دُعَاءُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ
‘Then supplicate; but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error.’
(Qur’ān 40:50)

You can also make du‘ā, but your du‘ās are in the wrong place, in vain, and will not be answered. If anyone is to say: ‘My prayers are not being answered,’ it should be the Kāfirs.

A person who says that he’s a Muslim or Mu’min should continue to make du‘ā and he will surely get its return. He should have faith in this. He should believe in this. Allah’s ﷻ promise is the truth.

May Allah ﷻ answer our prayers. May He grant us happiness in this world and the next, and may He strengthen our faith.

Wa min Allāh at-Tawfīq.

Al-Fatiha.
