Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
(Qur’ān 09:119)
“Yā ‘Ayyuhā l-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū t-Taqū l-Llaha Wa Kūnū Ma’a s-Sādiqīn”
“O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
It is Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s order to be with the truthful and good ones, O believers. Because they are the beloved servants of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They do not harm people. Goodness comes from them. They stay away from harm.
Even if it’s heavy upon their egos, they still want goodness for everyone. They do not want evil. No matter what hardship there is, they never torment people. They do not do evil because they know that the rights of others are bigger than the rights of Allāh ﷻ.
How can that be? Allāh ﷻ forgives. Allāh ﷻ forgives everything, but a servant doesn’t forgive. If you don’t go to him and ask forgiveness for his right, that right remains with him. But with Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, even if a person does anything, after repenting and seeking forgiveness, he is forgiven.
On the other hand, the unforgiven right, as we said, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla does not interfere with the rights of the servant. You must only give that right to the servant. You will give his right so that he forgives you, then Allāh ﷻ will forgive you.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgives everything, He ﷻ says in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n. He ﷻ forgives everything after not associating partners with Him ﷻ, after not making Sharīk with Him ﷻ. Even if he associates partners with Him ﷻ, then asks for forgiveness and repents, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will forgive him too. He didn’t insist.
When one asks forgiveness, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla certainly forgives all his major and minor sins. Except for a person’s rights, a servant’s right or if he harmed an animal and did something to it unjustly.
There is a justified one and an unjustified one. The justified is when a mischievous animal does something wrong, it is permissible to punish it. But if you torture an animal for no reason, then you have a right burdened upon you.
Of course, rights are important. The most important thing is justice. Giving everyone their rights, giving everything its due is obligatory for a person. It is what one must do. When everyone respects others’ rights, everything becomes good.
When they violate them, the world is as we see it. There are no rights, there’s no justice, there’s nothing. And then people wonder why this is happening. No need to be surprised. There is a price for everything.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May we not violate anyone’s rights, neither a servant’s, nor an animal’s, nor anything, not even a water’s. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam cursed the one who urinates into water. That’s a right too. Contaminating that clean water has a punishment too.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us all from badness. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from evil. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
