Don’t Be Proud in Front of Allāh ﷻ

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm,
فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ
(Qur’ān 33:31). ‘Fa-lā taghurrannakumu l-ḥayātu d-dunyā wa-lā yaghurrannakum bi-llāhi l-gharūr’, ‘So let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Don’t be cheated by the life of this world and don’t be proud”. “I am better than these people. I have more wealth and property. My rank is higher”. A person who is proud with his life in this world is an idiot. Because this world does not belong to anyone. And it won’t belong to you. Moreover, it is unclear what will happen to you in the end. Everything may happen in this world. Therefore, it is important to be on the way of Allāh ﷻ. And do not go against Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Your pride can take you to such a destruction that you won’t recognize Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. You won’t want or accept Him ﷻ.

Pride is something that comes from arrogance. During the last years, it has increased a lot in this world. They think they are important and don’t accept Allāh ﷻ. They don’t accept because of their pride and arrogance. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Beware of doing so”. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is ordering not to do this out of His ﷻ mercy to people. He ﷻ is warning them. He ﷻ is alerting them. You will be at loss yourselves by thinking you are important in this life of two days. There is no harm to others. This badness done will return to yourselves. It will bring loss to you.

Therefore, the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa Jalla is the way of humbleness of believers. Humbleness is something
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla loves in believers. Pride is not good at all. Especially people who are proud by being cheated with this world. They destroy and ruin themselves. No matter how high your rank is, no matter if you own whole world, even if you take control of this world, it has no value in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. The value of one believer is more precious than all of them. The value of a believer is more precious than millions and billions of those who don’t believe and who don’t repent.

Therefore, be from the precious ones in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. Don’t be cheated by looking at others. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Don’t let them cheat you”. May Allāh ﷻ make us from His ﷻ beloved people insha’Allah.
