Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

إِن تَجْتَنِبُوا كَبَائِرَ
(Qur’ān 04:31)
“In tajtanibu kabāir”
“If you avoid the major sins.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, “Beware of the major sins.” There are the major sins and minor sins. Of course, Allāh ﷻ forgives them all. But He ﷻ says, “Don’t approach the major sins.” And don’t approach things that will open the door to them.
He ﷻ says, “Guard your eyes from ḥarām.” And be careful about what you eat and drink; make sure it’s from ḥalāl. Don’t violate anyone’s rights. Pay attention to that. Because a person who violates rights can also be subject to other sins.
Violating rights is a sin. It’s one of the major sins: to usurp someone else’s rights. It’s very much found in this time. And it can be material and spiritual. Materially, it is by fraud, deceiving people and taking their money.
Spiritually, it is by coming up with various paths; paths that are not in Islām. Anyone who enters through that door will be destroyed. He will commit sin without even knowing it.
That’s why, this time is the greatest danger. Since the world was created, there has never been a time like this. Of course, things have always happened. Some said, “Worship me, worship this, worship that.” They forced them to do it, or people were ignorant.
Now, people think they themselves know everything. They look at this machine in their hands and say, “We know everything.” However, we live in “Jahiliyyah ath-Thaniyah”, “The Second Age of Ignorance” says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. We must be careful about that.
Sin is a burden. It is an evil for mankind. One must repent, seek forgiveness and return to the right way. Because, as we said, in this time, committing sins has become very easy. Doing good has become difficult. Obeying Allāh ﷻ has become difficult.
Therefore, we must be careful about that. One should not persist in committing sins. If you persist, the sin remains. If you repent and seek forgiveness, Allāh ﷻ will forgive you.
May Allāh ﷻ forgive us all. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us all from sins and evil. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
