Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
Sohbah on 9th July 2021 by Mawlana Sheikh Muhammad Adil Ar Rabbaniق

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla swears on precious things. We are entering the month of Dhū al-Ḥijjah in two days insha’Allah. Starting from tomorrow evening there are these ten nights.
‘وَالْفَجْرِ’
(Qur’ān 89:01)
‘By the dawn.’
Fajr means dawn. It is a holy time. Whoever gets up and prays at that time receives blessings and great virtues. He attains worldly virtues and those of the hereafter.
And then there are ten nights.
These nights start from tomorrow evening. The tenth day is the first day of ‘Īdu l-‘Aḍḥā. These holy nights last until then. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla swears on them in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Shān.
The things He ﷻ swears on are precious things. There are many things He ﷻ swears on in Qur’ān. And among them, there are these ten nights, ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah which are very blessed; as well as the worship performed during them.
It is the second of the sacred months. First one, Dhū al-Qa‘dah is ending. Then come Dhū al-Ḥijjah and Muḥarram. They were forbidden because of ḥajj in order not to make war and attack unnecessary people. When they [others] attack, it is a different matter. But it was forbidden to start a war.
These are holy sacred months, honored months. And there are many holy days within them. There are many holy nights. First ten nights of Dhū al-Ḥijjah are from them.
Whoever fasts for a day of them is as if he fasts for a whole year, says our Holy Prophet ﷺ in the Hadith Sharif.
Whoever revives a night is as if he stays revived every night for a whole year.
To stay awake for a night means to take ablution and pray two rakāt before going to bed and to wake up for tahajjud.
Whoever does it revives the night.
Some people think that to revive the night you have to stay awake all night. If you want to do so, you can make it once a year or once in 3-5 years.
However, our Holy Prophet ﷺ is accepting the easy and beautiful way as revival.
When you pray two rakāt and get up for tahajjud, you revive that night. You can do so every night. Those who cannot do it, should at least do it during these ten nights. If you start from tomorrow, you will reach a great virtue. It will be counted as if you revived every night for a year.
It wasn’t destined for people to go to ḥajj this year.
Whoever is allowed to go, these are the closest days to ḥajj. Usually it starts earlier, but now people are coming much closer to it. Some people have never seen Ka’bah, BaytuLlāh and maqām of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. They were waiting in excitement but couldn’t go this year. It is by the will of Allāh ﷻ. Everything is by fate. When it’s not in your fate, it doesn’t come.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla told ’Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām to call adhān when he built Ka’bah, BaytuLlāh in Makkah.
He said, “There is no one”.
Allāh ﷻ said “Call the adhān. Whoever hears it will be destined to perform ḥajj. So they will come and make ḥajj”.
Therefore, whoever hears the adhān of ’Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām certainly goes to ḥajj. Whoever doesn’t hear it can try to go as much as he can, it’s not destined for him. Either it is just not destined for him, or the way is closed or something else happens; there will be an obstacle.
May Allāh ﷻ bless these days.
May we know their value insha’Allah.
May Allāh ﷻ bless them for many years insha’Allah.
May we all reach them in health and with ’īmān insha’Allah.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
