Ask for Barakah, Not More Money

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا

(Qur’ān 20:124)

“Wa Man ‘A’rada an Dhikrī Fa inna Lahu Ma’īshatan Dankāan”

“And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Those who turn themselves away from My remembrance and My dhikr will have a difficult, bad life.” These days we are living in demonstrate this. There are hardships all over the world. There are many hardships, all kinds of hardships. There are hardships in terms of livelihood, hardships within the family, all kinds of problems.

The reason for these is explained by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. It is turning away from the remembrance of Allāh ﷻ, not remembering Allāh ﷻ, and not making shukr for the favors Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has bestowed upon them. These are the reasons why these hardships occur.

People ask the government for more money to alleviate their troubles. They say, “This money is not enough.” You must ask Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla for His ﷻ barakah so that the money will be sufficient. When what you receive becomes of barakah, you will earn more. But even if you were given money it’ll pass to the hands of the wolves within a moment.

It would be better if you ask Allāh ﷻ not to increase them but for barakah in what He’d ﷻ already given you. Say, “Don’t increase them at all.” But let things remain the same, let the barakah remain. Make shukr and du’ā’ to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla so He ﷻ grants us His ﷻ barakah.

Once whatever given has barakah, you won’t need anyone anymore. You will not ask for more. You will say, “This much is enough.” Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla then grants His ﷻ barakah. Then everything will be at ease. This is something experienced. The more people covet, the more barakah disappear, and barakah doesn’t remain.

Now, they say, “We will receive this much money,” and they rejoice. Yet, on one hand, they receive, and on the other hand, they give even more. People are unaware of this. They rejoice because they took money. They rejoice, but sometimes they wake up, yet they still continue on the same path. They continue in the same manner.

May people wake up. May they wake up so that they may experience the barakah of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Ask Allāh ﷻ. Those who seek from Allāh will succeed. Those who seek from people are always deceived and will achieve nothing.

Therefore, may Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla grant His ﷻ barakah. May what He ﷻ gives be full of barakah, even if it is little; it is much better than a lot. May Allāh ﷻ help people and grant them awareness. Let them turn to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and remember Allāh ﷻ. Then, their lives will be comfortable. May Allāh ﷻ help us.

Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
