Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عنِّا”
“Allahumma innaka afuwun karīmun tuhibbu l-afwa fa’fu anna”
“Ya Allah, You are Forgiving and Generous, and You love forgiveness, so forgive us.”
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is Generous and Forgiving. This is a du’ā’ of Holy Prophet ﷺ asking Allāh ﷻ to forgive us. He ﷺ advises people to say it. Allāh ﷻ loves those who forgive. Because He ﷻ Himself is Forgiving. Therefore, if people forgive each other on what they do knowingly or unknowingly, their reward is with Allāh ﷻ. Their reward is great.
Why are we saying this? Because there are people who pass away, those after them of course ask for forgiveness at the funeral, and they forgive them there. Sometimes with those who are far away, even if a harmful thing happens, even if small or big, if one forgives them Allāh ﷻ will reward him too. He ﷻ gives him his reward. But small things happen knowingly or unknowingly. One does what is human. Allāh ﷻ is forgiving. We also forgive.
If we have a right, we forgive this right for people. Those who are near forgive. If those who are far away hear it too, them forgiving will be a great goodness in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will be happy. Allāh ﷻ wants His ﷻ servant to be sinless. He also gives great rewards to those who forgive.
We were saying this because – of course, may Allāh ﷻ have mercy on them. There are nice people who are not very smart. While in this world, they are tactless. They may have done something knowingly or unknowingly, and offended people. It is good to forgive them. Yesterday – may Allāh ﷻ have mercy on him. Mustafa Pala passed away two or three months ago. May Allāh ﷻ have mercy on him.
So his son came and told us he saw his father in his dream. He was in a good state, but he still wants forgiveness from the brothers. He was a good person, may Allāh ﷻ bless him, but sometimes he was very tactless. So he asked for forgiveness for that. And we said that we forgive on our side.
After I forgave him, all the brothers asked us to forgive him on their behalf. May Allāh ﷻ forgive him, and may He ﷻ forgive us all. And for us too, as we forgive, may others forgive us too, in shā’a Llāh. May we all be forgiven. A believer does not hold grudges. A believer loves what Allāh ﷻ loves, and does not love what He ﷻ does not love. Allāh ﷻ loves forgiveness, and we forgive. May Allāh ﷻ forgive us all, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
