Al-Mahdi Hasn’t Appeared Yet

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“وَأَنِيبُوا إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا لَهُ”

(Qur’ān 39:54)

“Wa ‘Anībū ‘Ilá Rabbikum Wa ‘Aslimū Lahu”

“And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Return to Allāh ﷻ, says Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Submit to Him ﷻ. If you make a mistake, return [in repentance] from your mistake, says Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

The way of Allāh ﷻ is clear. The way of Allāh ﷻ is obvious and open. Go on that way. If you have strayed to other ways, if you have been deceived, return to Allāh ﷻ, repent to Allāh ﷻ and He ﷻ forgives. If you have strayed to the bad way, do not persist in that way. This persistence and stubbornness is a sign of disbelief.

The unbeliever is stubborn. The Muslim accepts the truth. He is on the side of ḥaqq. He is together with ḥaqq. No matter what you show an unbeliever, and no matter what you say, it’s useless. You can say “This is true, and this is false” as much as you want, they still accept the falsehood and say nothing else.

Therefore, there are many people who have been deceived. They chased after some people because they claim they’re Muslims. He who has strayed from the way should return to that way. He should return to the way of ḥaqq, the way shown by our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. That way leads to salvation. It leads to salvation in dunyā, and it leads to salvation in ākhirah. That’s what’s important.

Because there are all kinds of people who have been deceived. We’re back to the issue of Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām. There are many people who say they are Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām. We see it every day. There are many majdhūbs or crazy ones who say, “I am the Mahdi. I am ‘Isa. I am this, I am that.” Not everyone accepts them.

But there are some, they form large communities. “Mahdi appeared. Mahdi appeared a hundred years ago,” I don’t know how many years ago they say he appeared. After Mahdi appears, qiyāmah will happen. How do you think a hundred or fifty or ten years have passed? If Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām appeared, all these signs must come one after the other. This is what must happen.

People are being deceived. However, it’s not by implication (insinuation); there are great clear signs. The appearance of Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām is one of the great signs of qiyāmah. But there are signs after that too. There is Dābbatu l-Ard (The Beast of the Earth). After that, the sun will rise from the west. The emergence of Yajūj and Majūj.

These are from the major signs of qiyāmah. Dunyā will not last forever. It also has its time. Therefore, deceiving people by saying, “I am the Mahdi,” and then Muslims believing in one person, and following him, is going out from the way.

Therefore, return to the way. Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām hasn’t appeared yet. When he appears, everyone will know; not three or five people, not a thousand people, not ten thousand people. Millions will all know. The whole world will know. Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām will appear. The antichrist will appear. There are groups who are waiting for the antichrist. They will follow the antichrist. So even they are smarter than these deceived people.

That’s why, to people who are in error: “أَنِيبُوا”, “Anību”, He ﷻ says. (Qur’ān 39:54). Return, return, return to Allāh ﷻ. It’s not about one person. The way is clear. Everything is clearly stated.

Therefore, for those who are in error: do not insist. Persistence and stubbornness are signs of disbelief. Do not approach them. Do not do so. May Allāh ﷻ grant you mind and understanding. May you return to the way. That’s what we will say, in shā’a Llāh.
