By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.

There came an order for war, but the Muslim treasury was empty and there was no money to prepare an army. The Prophet ﷺ commanded all the believers to give whatever they could afford.

Sayyidina Umarر came first with a great offering. He gave half of all his wealth for the sake of Allah ﷻ. But Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiqر came with a heart overflowing in love and gave everything he had. He kept nothing for himself. All of it he placed in the hands of the Prophet ﷺ.

Sayyidina Umarر said that it was impossible to compete with Abu Bakrر. He was always far ahead of everyone else in sincerity and sacrifice.

One day Sayyidina Jibril (AS) came to visit the Prophet ﷺ. He was dressed only in a simple straw mat. The Prophet ﷺ asked him about it.

Jibril (AS) explained that Abu Bakrر had given away every possession he owned and was left with nothing except a straw mat to cover himself. Allah ﷻ then ordered all the angels to dress as he was dressed.

Abu Bakrر gave everything in the way of Allah ﷻ. Even his clothes. Once he was sitting inside his home wearing only his underclothes when a beggar came and knocked. Abu Bakrر gave him his undershirt.

The beggar asked again in the name of Allah ﷻ and His Prophet ﷺ. From behind the door, Abu Bakrر handed him his underpants. Then he pulled the straw mat over himself for cover. Allah ﷻ was so pleased with his sincerity that He commanded all the angels to dress in straw mats.

There is a Hadith that says if you weighed the faith of Abu Bakrر against the faith of the entire Ummah, the faith of Abu Bakrر would be heavier.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “First the Prophet ﷺ, then Abu Bakrر, then Salmanر. Ya Sayeed, ya Saheeb, ya Siddiq, ya Rasul, ya Allah ﷻ.”

Whenever you mention the name of a Sahabiر or mention the name of the Prophet ﷺ, they will surely come to visit you, either in their pure spirit or in their blessed body.

May Allah ﷻ grant us sincerity and a heart that gives as Abu Bakr as-Siddiqر gave, with purity and trust.

May Allah ﷻ let us be with the Prophet ﷺ, with the Siddiqر, and with those whom He loves. Ameen.

Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.

It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.

We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.

This text was originally taken from A Scent of Saintliness by Hajja Amina Adil Sultanق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.
