Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ spent this night before the battle calling out to Allah ﷻ with the following dhikr:
‘Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayyum’
Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum is called Ism al-Azam, The Greatest Name of Allah. This is the supplication to be recited when in dire need. [Hadith]
The Battle of Badr was the first battle allowed by Allah ﷻ, taking place on the 17th of Ramadhan in the second year after the Hijrah.
The names of the companions who fought in Badr, referred to as Badriyun, are sacred and remembered in prayers and dhikr. It is believed that Allah ﷻ accepts supplications made in their name.
Their actions serve as a powerful example of unwavering faith, courage, and sacrifice from which we can learn.
Tonight, do recite Surah Al-Fatiha as a gift for the most honoured, Ahlul Badr.
A list of the 313 Names of Ahlul Badr can be found here.
