Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
(Qur’ān 03:97)
“Wa li-Llāhi a’la n-nāsi hijju l-bayti man i-statā’a ‘ilayhi sabīlā”
“And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House (Ka’bah) – those who can afford the journey.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
The pillar of ḥajj is one of the pillars of Islām. It has been made obligatory for those who are able to go.
Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, it is stated in that Ayah, “وَأَذِّن فِي النَّاسِ بِالْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالًا وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ ضَامِرٍ يَأْتِينَ مِن كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ”, “Wa ‘Adhdhin Fī An-Nāsi Bil-Ĥajji Ya’tūka Rijālāan Wa Alá Kulli Đāmirin Ya’tīna Min Kulli FajjinAmīqin”, “And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass.” (Qur’an 22:27). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
When Sayyidina Ibrahim ‘alayhi s-salām built the Kaaba by the order of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla in Makkah, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla then ordered him, “Call the adhan.” Sayyidina Ibrahim ‘alayhi s-salām called the adhan from above the Kaaba. That adhan is for people to come to Kaaba. Of course, there was no one there; only Sayyidina Ibrahim ‘alayhi s-salām and Sayyidina Ismaīl ‘alayhi s-salām.
When Sayyidina Ibrahim ‘alayhi s-salām did not see anyone, he asked for the wisdom. It was revealed to him that the wisdom is that whoever hears this adhan until the Day of Judgment will be destined to go to ḥajj. That’s why, sometimes people who are not destined can’t go. And those who are destined, Allāh ﷻ opens the way for them and they go at a time they didn’t expect.
Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, we didn’t have any intention to go this year either. May Allāh ﷻ be pleased with our brothers. When they offered, we did not reject the offer. It was a gift from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. In shā’a Llāh, we will embark on that journey of ḥajj today. May Allāh ﷻ enable us to complete it. The journey of ḥajj is the most beautiful journey. We will visit our Prophet ﷺ, perform ḥajj and in shā’a Llāh we will return safely.
There are many people now who are on their way to ḥajj. May Allāh ﷻ open the way for them to complete their ḥajj and return too. They will have been destined and heard the adhan of Sayyidina Ibrahim. They also come loaded with these Fards, great worship and thawāb, without losing anything. Because there is much thawāb gained. Most of the ḥajjīs leave that thawāb there, while they are still there, and come back normally. They will have completed their ḥajj, but the thawāb will have remained there.
Therefore, you have to be careful. That place is sacred. It is the most sacred place in the world. Don’t let your ego prevail over you there. You must be patient. You must be patient with everything. In shā’a Llāh [you return] with those rewards. There is such a reward that you earn thawāb in ten days, in twenty days, in a month, or forty days more than the thawāb you earn in a lifetime.
May Allāh ﷻ help us. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ for the blessings He ﷻ has given. May Allāh ﷻ grant those who haven’t yet gone to ḥajj to go. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
